New Photos of the Alleweder A8 *update*

A8 Prototype In the German Velomobilforum they are called „Aluminauts“ at times. Velomobile riders (or wannabes) who are having a special relationship to the aluminium velomobile Alleweder in its different model generations. Whether it is the construction material aluminium or the fact that you can build an aluminium Alleweder on your own: For Aluminauts the AW has a special appeal.

For months, this group of people has been waiting for new photos of the Alleweder A8 prototype. Yet, there had been indications on the Alligt website only. This changed today. On those photos, you can see nicely that the construction bases on bulkhead-like ribs and stringers over which the aluminium plates are riveted. Also the new rear construction, which is made of a plastic part in the lower part, is well visible. The luggage compartment goes higher than at the A4 and fills the hood behind the rider’s head which is, again different compared to the A4, not set on top but integrated into the rib and the plate-hull. Altogether, though you can see that the A8 is derived from the WAW, the vehicle keeps an own Alleweder-type charakter. The Aluminauts will be satisfied. However, the rear wheel looks pretty unfaired on the photos. Applying additional aluminium plates or foam plates here should be easy (if you consider the advantage by such a measure significantly).

*update* Leo Visscher sent a couple of additional photos from the built (see slideshow) and additional information: the inner plates of the front wheel boxes are curved to reduce wind noise. All plates come flat aout of the milling machine and get curved during rivetting.
