It had been expected in September and few news were available about it: Raptobike’s second model – the Mid-Racer. Now I received two pictures from Arnold who is running the firm in Amstelhoek, Netherlands and a couple of information I am happy to forward to you!
As the Low-Racer, the new model will be unsuspended and front wheel driven and aims for a rather low price. The Low-Racer is available at around 1200 Euro for the bike and about 850 Euro for the frameset. Arnold is still calculating prices, hence he only stated that the Mid-Racer will not be the most expensive bike on the market. The pictures he sent me still show a prototype, the final frames will be powdercoated in white.
The seat angle will be adjustable between about 20 degrees (flat) and 32 degrees (upright). There will be an option for a foldable tiller. The frame is separable, there is no noseboon, the frame is adjusted to driver’s length by sliding one part of the frame in or out of the other part.
The final bike will be suited for both, 28″ and 26″. For 28″ it will allow race tires and 26″ it will allow all sorts of tires.
According to Arnold, the final weight is estimated around 13 kilo for the basic version. He’s currently contemplating two different versions for the bike. One which is suited for touring (26″ wheels, luggage rack, fenders) and one for racing (28″ wheels, rimbrakes). Prices should be available in max. one month from now.
I am crossing my fingers that the bike is available soon, Arnold! I wonder if I manage to ride it with my short legs;-)

Hi, thanks for mentioning my new bike
If you would fit depends a little on the ‘geometry’ of your body, but we’ve designed the bike so that people over 1.62 meter can ride the bike. The nice thing of not having a noseboom it that you will not even have to use shorter cranks or similar solutions, the distance between the bottom bracket/cranks and wheel is always the same.
Nice Wheels van Spinergy
Looks very nice.
Wonder if they also think about a version with rearsuspension.
I think there will be people who’ll like that.
Those wheels look stunning indeed, they fit very well.
I think there wil be a market for this bike, also, because of it’s price.

Coole sache! Der Lowracer ist schon cool und preislich intressant. Aber halt “low” und das gefällt nicht jedem.
(Arnold, good luck with your business, you got cool ideas and good support, just perfect!)
I love the look and design of this new midracer by Raptobike. If I didn’t already have a raptobike lowracer I would be considering this bike. Beautiful, functional and anticipated at a good price.
I wonder when it will get into production. 72 days ago, Arnold promised to add the midracer to his webshop within a week…
I sent Arnold a mail some time ago, asking him exactly this. I did not receive an answer yet. However, when I was there (beginning of June) he told me that he was very busy, and that he concentrated very much on building the bikes which were ordered (maybe this is the explanation for the missing mid racer on the webshop). At least there were a lot of frames lying around in his workshop – and I did see readily assembled Mid Racers!
